One year on, and it’s time for VW Players 2009 again! Held at North Weald Airfield in Essex, Players marks the end of the season for VW Shows.
Although we were thin on the ground in attendance, we were there to award the ‘Paul Webster Memorial Trophy’ which was won by Steve Denton last year.

This year, there was only one winner, which in no doubt would have been Pauls car of the show, and that was the Type 2 (or 3 sometimes) detectives VW Brazilia or ‘KRB SNKE’ (Kurb Snake)

Once again, thanks to Jay and Carl for organising the trophy and for Steve Denton bringing the trophy back so it could be awarded again!
With dub-life being a bit quiet in 2009 with projects taking place left right and center, we hope to be making more appearences throughout the 2010 show season - Watch out!

I have found a video that I recorded at Edition38 in 2007. There were a number of us packed into one tent and Paul was telling us all about what his plans were for the next day.
Although you can’t see anything in the video, you can quite clearly hear Paul let us all know of ALL his plans.
One year on from Pauls death, he is still as greatly missed as he always will be.
We all miss you so much Paul, i’m just glad we can remember these awesome times we shared x
Please click the image below (which was taken just before this video was recorded) to view the video:

For reference:
Paul smashed his sump on the way to the show, and funnily enough although we joked about it smashed it on the way back too!
The ’spray bottle flower mother f*cker’ was actually a pump action weed sprayer we used as a shower and Tom had a lump on his head from playfighting!

On behalf of myself and the rest of the dub-life team, we’d like to thank Jay and Carl of the VW Players for the generosity and thoughtfulness of creating the ‘Paul Webster Memorial Trophy’ which was awarded at the VW Players show at North Weald Airfield in Essex on the 14th September.
The trophy really was special and it was extremely hard to choose a winner for this year, after much deliberation the dub-life team awarded it to Steve Denton for his Brown Audi 100 on air ride and fuchs - something we really think Paul would have appreciated!

The trophy will be up for grabs again next year, so see you at VW Players 2009!

It is with the greatest sadness and shock that I am posting this message on here.
Paul Webster, also known as Websnowbo, one of our prominant members passed away in the early hours of 16/08/08 in an unfortunate accident.
Paul, known to many for some of his awesome projects, including (now my) Baby Blue MK3 Cabriolet with Orange Interior, his Mars Red ‘76 MK1 Golf with 1.8t and colour coded 16″ RS’s and his most recent project a 1974 Orange Swallowtail nicknamed ‘Spit or Swallow’ sure to be one of the most impressive MK1s to date.
His garage has become somewhat famous amongst many of us for being the most unorganised, car and tool filled treasure trove…Literally, if it wasn’t in there…it wasn’t worth having! Due to all this, and Pauls incredible mechanical skills, saw some very impressive metal leaving his garage…
He was also known for his skills in drinking copious amounts of Stella and having a great time, infact Paul re-iterated many a time that car shows for him were about the people and the party, the cars were just a bonus!
Paul was a massive influence on many peoples lives, especially my own and was a huge asset to the VW Scene. He will be sadly missed, and never forgotten.
‘Spit or Swallow’ will be finished by many of his close friends, and will be shown and kept in his memory.
RIP Webs x
(I leave you with these two images of ‘Spit or Swallow’ before Paul got stuck in!)

Well, with a week to go to Ultimate Dubs ‘08, dub-life member Websnowbo aka Paul W realised his ‘Spit or Swallow’ project wasn’t going to make the show…So took it upon himself to rebuild a Caddy with a week long deadline…and here are the results..

Lovin’ the work Paul W!

Winter is coming to a close and dub-life certainly have been busy…With some of us trying to combat the winter blues, others have been stuck in the garage getting greasy… Here is a sneak preview of what’s to come in 2008:
